Raft building

Team Wolfsburg decided on a creative team event in September 2022. The warm summer weather made people want to do outdoor activities. Therefore, the team met in Braunschweig to build a raft together and to explore the river Oker equipped with paddles.

The team divided into groups for a coordinated construction of the raft. The first group focused on inflating two inflatable bodies with the help of air pumps. In the meantime, the rest of the team was able to transport enough ropes and bamboo trunks, which would later serve as seats, to the shore.

After the groups had aligned the inflated tubular bodies and placed the bamboo trunks on them, there was a short lesson on the most diverse knot techniques and their areas of application. Thanks to the different experiences of the colleagues from scout times and Co., it was agreed after a short brainstorming to use mast throwing knots for fastening the bamboo trunks. The knotting of these was then explained in detail and the tying of the logs began.

Tied tightly and ready for use, the raft was carefully lowered into the water. Immediately, brave people were found who entered the raft and gave the group the desired feedback that everything was firm and safe. It did not take long for all the colleagues to arrive on the raft and for the paddles to be passed. With these, the necessary thrust was then given and the shore was finally left behind.

During the relaxed tour in the shade of the trees, the raft-building techniques were once again exchanged and the well-deserved pizza in the evening was looked forward to!
